Macmillan Prize Season
Tis the season for the Macmillan Prize, when many hopeful illustration students hand in their unpublished work to one of the UK’s biggest and well known publishing house for judgement.
The lucky winners of this competition not only get a prize money, but also the chance to get published. The judging panel will include leading contemporary children’s book illustrators, an experienced children’s bookseller, the Publishing Director for Illustrated Publishing at Macmillan Children’s Books and the Children’s Art Director. For me it is the third time taking part and I hope to be part of the exhibition which will take place from the 25th -30th of May at the Foyles Gallery, London. I don’t want to be too hopeful since the last two times it didn’t work out, but I have learned a lot in the last few months during my MA. I hope that I have applied my newly gained knowledge well and maybe have a bigger chance this time around. Whatever happens I am really happy with the book I created for this competition so I have already won something. Hand in is this week and the notification of the winners will be on the 10th of May.
Okay Max & Xam, behave well and make sure the judges like you!
